The sixth studio album by Brymo, 2018's Oṣó is an African folk project infused with traditional Yoruba sounds, apala, R&B and elements of rock. Produced by Mikkyme Joses in its entirety, an electronic impulse runs through ballads organically surveying love and offering social commentary. Largely piano-driven and textured with pensive percussion, soothing basslines and melodic guitar riffs, the instrumentation laid a mellow foundation for the singer-songwriter born Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ to explore themes around the spiritual ("God Is In Your Mind"), parenthood (“Olanrewaju”) and the interpersonal ("Heya"). A poignant lyricism drives Oṣó and concepts at once moving and intellectually stimulating were cocooned in a soundscape intricately adorned by saxophones, strings and horns.
